Job Description
Department & how it relates to the role In order to achieve the level of reliability that our customers demand and deserve, the Infrastructure Maintenance function that employs 15,000 across 40 delivery units, plays a major role in delivering our vision of engineering and operating excellence for Britain’s railway. Our in-house maintenance organisation works as one single team maintaining signalling, track, and electrification using standardised, efficient processes that are committed to the achievement of our corporate goals. Our rail management engineering teams undertake welding and stressing new rails, reinforcing and re-profiling switches and crossings, carrying out rail defect repair and removal, as well as reacting to emergency repairs at short notice. All welding is carried out to Network Rail standards and approved maintenance and repair techniques. About the role (External) he role will include undertaking UT inspections, manual rail grinding and arc weld repair You’ll require a steady hand and a keen eye for detail. You’ll need to be proactive in looking for ways to eliminate hazards to ensure the safest way of working at all times. Do you have….? · A background in NDT,welding and rail grinding · Proven railway experience? · A basic knowledge in computer skills e.g. Excel and Word? Are you….? * Hard working? * Committed to working safely at all times? * Physically fit and have good eye sight? * Willing to learn more skills with training? * Comfortable working in all types of weather? This role involves shift working which will include days, nights and weekend working. This position is safety critical and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing and a pre-employment medical. If you are shortlisted for this position, you will be required to take a compulsory communications test.
