Job Description
Job Description Our client is looking for a number of management staff to join their rail projects team. The role will be as a functional head reporting into the Rail Director. They currently require a Technical Engineering Manager to join their team. Job Purpose: The main function of the Overground Engineering Team is to supplement the design work of the Central team by dealing with Client?s interfaces, help prepare the packages of design work, liaise with the Client in respect of any comments, clarifications, changes, further (additional or new) work etc. The Overground Engineering Team will act also as a project design verification and compliance verification team. In this respect, FAT inspections, site inspections and liaison with the testing and commissioning teams form part of the duties. All design modifications, being the site modifications, Client requested modifications, corrections, alterations etc will be raised and implemented by the Overground Engineering Team; Central team will be agreeing and approving these changes; if they are significant changes, the Central team will do the required design work. As built drawings (and other documentation) will be managed by the Overground Engineering Team; close liaison with the Commissioning team will be part of the duties. It is the function of the Design Compliance part of the Engineering Process to ensure that the design intent is maintained throughout the project construction, testing and commissioning phase. Principal Accountabilities: Engineering Manager Overground Rail is responsible for assuring all aspects of engineering works are implemented in accordance with processes, procedures, Company and Client?s requirements, this does not only include the design, but the construction, testing and commissioning and handover. The Engineering Manager Overground is responsible for planning and management of design, testing and commissioning activities for his/her project or group of projects. Objectives Prepare procedures in line with policies To manage interfaces with Client and other contractors on site To liaise with the Central team and Commissioning team To ensure the engineering team resources are adequate, competent and efficient in their tasks Ensure Design Compliance of the installation (includes elements of all engineering disciplines) Ensure that all designs are compliant with relevant requirements and appropriately approved Ensure that regular cross discipline Engineering Review Meetings are held Implement robust Testing and Commissioning Strategy, Plans and programmes to ensure the safe testing and commissioning of completed installations to achieve the necessary plant operation in accordance with the programme requirements. In conjunction with the SHEQ Manager, ensure that all safety and other project briefings are cascaded to all staff In conjunction with the Risk Manager, ensure the agreed risk control measures are applied and additional or changed risks are identified and suitable mitigation actions implemented Knowledge, skills qualifications and experience Experienced in the design and commissioning of AC and DC electrical infrastructure equipment Proven technical management abilities Qualified Electrical Engineer
