Job Description
SYSTEM ENGINEER - CONFIGURATION MANAGEMENT

This role required on a 12 month contract, to be based in Central London, offering between £300 - £445 pay per day (Ltd) - be aware that 2 individuals are required (1x Hands On and 1x Management).

Specific role description:

* To undertake the specification, management, reporting, continuous improvement and delivery of Configuration Management activities to ensure the retention of the railway system integrity and management of change during the implementation of the railway upgrade programmes across all asset types and phases of the lifecycle through to commissioning and handover into service. This to include:

- Ensuring that the Programme Configuration Management Plan is effectively maintained and implemented across the programme.
- Ensuring that Configuration Management performance is continuously monitored and reported.
- Ensuring that Configuration Management processes and support tools are effectively implemented, reviewed and improved.
- Ensuring that training and support is provided and maintained for all people with Configuration Management responsibilities on the programme.
- Ensuring that competent Configuration Management expert resources are provided and managed to support projects in implementing Configuration Management.

* To provide Configuration Management professional system engineering expertise to the System Integration function and wider project delivery community within the upgrade programme

- Experience of upgrade of legacy systems in the railway industry and of Metro systems.
- Significant experience in a system engineering/system integration role undertaking Configuration Management (CM) and Engineering Change Management in a complex railway programme.
- Recognised and respected authority in an organisation.
- Experience in specifying CM requirements (i.e. plans, processes, tools, capabilities, etc.) for organisations and/or major complex programmes.

- Experience of monitoring, reporting on and managing the effectiveness of CM for organisations and/or major complex programmes.
- Experience of Configuration Item List development.
- Experience of physical and functional audits.
- Experience of CM tool development.
- Experience of CM training material preparation and delivery
- Experience in a post of staff management responsibility
