Job Description
Department & how it relates to the role Network Rail is planning to transfer certain activities of our business to a new National Centre which will open in Milton Keynes during 2012. You should be aware that this position will be included in this move. About the role (External) The main purpose of this role is to Identify, analyse and support the resolution of technical issues, coordinating activity with internal and external parties to deliver cost effective solutions and gain support and acceptance from governance bodies. Key Accountabilities · Identify and analyse network electrification issues taking account of technical assumptions, and coordinate interfaces with projects, as required. · Investigate specific technical problems and issues, identifying solutions. · Make recommendations on changes to standards, working methods, processes and procedures. · Support the resolution of technical issues from all relevant governance bodies and end users across the industry; analyse and organise resulting information, presenting coherent recommendations for review. · Brief and provide support for network electrification representatives, collating and disseminating all feedback and providing technical secretarial support where appropriate. · Collate and analyse information from governance bodies to promote good understanding of progress and issues at a technical level and communicate and report regularly. · Support the change control process for the application of specifications. · Support the work of governance bodies, including participating in technical audits, contract administration and work planning. Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications Essential · Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject · Relevant engineering experience · Knowledge of network electrification · Knowledge of UK railway industry structure and relationships Desirable · Member of a relevant professional institution · Good communication skills * Knowledge of network electrification governance bodies
