Job Title: Software Leader / Automation Tools Manager
Salary: Up to £50,000 p.a.
Location: Wiltshire

This market leading organisation is seeking a software leader to drive the development and deployment of engineering automation tools.
The candidate will be based within Engineering Capability and will be responsible for the full lifecycle of automation tools development, from opportunity identification and business case development through to the tool implementation and realisation of cost savings and quality improvement on executing projects.
Leading a small team of software engineers, the Automation Tools Manager will be accountable for the success of automation tools, measured by attributable reduction in cost and increase in quality across project delivery. The Automation Tools Manager will also be accountable for the following:
* Opportunity identification - creating proposals for new tools and enhancement/reapplication of existing tools, undertaking feasibility studies
* Portfolio management - prioritising development of tools within the portfolio based on opportunities in the business
* Program management - earning the respect of the user community and suppliers, working with both to ensure tools can be successfully applied to projects
* Communications - making the engineering and business community aware of automation tools to ensure wide usage and maximum return on investment
* Requirements management - gathering and prioritising requirements from multiple projects
* Training - managing the design and delivery of training to users
* Project support - ensuring tools are successfully applied to projects; proactively managing the defect and request for enhancement process
The successful candidate will hold a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other numerate discipline and will have performed a similar role in another organisation. They will have the ability to market automation tools internally to drive adoption and maximum return on investment and should be comfortable diving into detail when necessary to ensure a software product meets user requirements. He/she will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of software architecture and credibility amongst software engineers together with experience of designing and delivering technical training.
