Your role We are currently recruiting for a Software Development Manager based at our headquarters in Derby for our unique train diagnostics analysis tool, Orbita. As technical architect for the Orbita components you will determine the software architecture strategy deciding which software components should be used, how they should be configured and how they will be deployed and supported. Your Challenges Responsible for researching, identifying, specifying and designing the appropriate technology solutions to support the development of the ORBIFLO software components assigned to the Derby ORBIFLO Team (User Interface Framework, Reporting Framework, Orbita Enterprise and Energy Management module) to ensure that the developments support the policies and strategic business objectives of Bombardier and the ORBIFLO product suite. Undertake Peer Reviews and provide recommendations in association with ORBIFLO Technical Architects and the ORBIFLO Management team on the proposed technical architecture developments for the Program to determine the short and the long-term technology strategies to be adopted by all the ORBIFLO products. Responsible technically for all the ORBIFLO software components assigned to the Derby ORBIFLO Team from an application and system perspective, whether developed by Bombardier or its third party off-shore suppliers, to ensure that all components of the architecture are correctly integrated and implemented including: the definition of the development tools and environment; defining the development tools and environment; coaching the software team in the development of the architecture; providing support to the Orbita Service Delivery team and ORBIFLO Project teams; and quality control throughout all stages of the development. Responsible for leading the development of the ORBIFLOsoftware components to ensure all software and documentation deliverables are provided in accordance with the ORBIFLO Release Plan. This requires the management of internal and external technical resources to provide; resource and timescale estimates; software development, integration, customization and installation efforts. Responsible for evaluating, reviewing and recommending for use within the ORBIFLO product suite: emerging technologies for infrastructure operations and client services; COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) products; custom applications and vendor services. Qualifications Your Experience and Qualifications Ideally you will have a Batchelors degree or equivalent in Mathematics or Computer Science You will have extensive knowledge and experince in IT architectural and software development experience Various software development languages including Microsoft C# and/or VB.NET. Microsoft .NET architecture OOAD Design patterns Designing components in a distributed architecture, Service oriented architecture, High availability and high performance .NET architecture. Good understanding of Enterprise Architect Solutions Flexibility required as a key team member in a globally distributed team working in multiple time zones.
