Network Rail is at the heart of revitalising Britain’s railway. Over the next five years, we intend to invest £34.6 billion on improving and developing the rail network.

East Midlands Signalling Renewals (EMSR) is a major signalling programme to renew signalling assets predominantly on the Midland Mainline over the next 10 to 15 years. Geographically, the major power signal boxes between Sheffield & London St Pancras are to be recontrolled to the new East Midlands Control Centre with the lineside and control infrastructure replaced to modern standards as appropriate.

Brief Vacancy Description

EMSR are seeking a proactive, team player to join a busy, hard working construction team based in Derby. We operate under hub & spoke contracting arrangements which will put you at the heart of construction activity on our projects. The construction team forms an integral part of the overall EMSR team, involved in the planning, execution and close out activities for our projects. The role will be predominatly site based but you will be expected to attend key meetings at our Hub office in Derby as required.

Detailed External Job Description

Using your expertise as a Site Manager you will respond to technical queries, review method statements and maintain site records during all site inspections. Your strong relationship building and interpersonal skills will help you to communicate with Network Rail’s project managers, project engineers, quality surveyors, safety specialists and external contractors.

Your understanding of health and safety and construction within the railway will provide you with the confidence to assist the project team. Understanding the commercial issues that are involved in delivering a project will help you seek and identify areas of continuous improvement and proactive safety initiatives.

Do you have….?

· Outstanding construction experience in the railway industry?
· A thorough understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental issues relating to construction?

CSCS/CITB scheme/NEBOSH certification?

· Able to manage a principal contractor and their subcontractors?
· Highly dependable in your outlook?
· Outstanding at communicating and presenting?

Confident in developing strong relationship internally and externally?
Dynamic and highly customer focused?
Motivated and inspired by our rail infrastructure?
