Job Description
We have an Urgent role for a Site Logistics Manager to work on the largest rail project in Europe. This role is specifically responsible for overseeing the logistics activities associated with construction works at the main stations. Reporting to the Senior Site Logistics Manager, in turn to the Logistics Control Manager, the Logistics Manager will be responsible for developing strong links with both the contractor’s site management and the wider construction team in terms of sharing information, managing change and supporting the other functions. Closely working under guidance from the Traffic Co-ordination Centre (TCC) Manager, The job holder will be responsible for ensuring scheduled deliveries and collections from the relevant central London worksite is co-ordinated and in accordance with previously agreed schedules from sub-contactors; and enforcing prohibitions and alterations as may be necessary. Responsibilities: · Oversee the logistics activities at a given station site; · Understand the anticipated volume and frequency of vehicle movements into and out of the site; · Understand the system of vehicle control and a delivery booking system that will be provided by the TCC and monitor this robustly; · Liaise with construction managers, transfer site management and tunnel/portal interface personnel in order to build relationships resulting in a sound understanding of each others’ requirements; · Police the agreed movements schedule and compliment the process for reporting deviations/amendments, taking corrective action where necessary; · Understand the role of Lorry Holding Areas (LHAs) and their operational constraints, concurring with a robust reporting and communications strategy as advised by the TCC; · Supply data as may be necessary to the reporting on KPIs that may be used to inform senior management of the performance of the logistics operations; · Manage client and contractor interfaces to effect regular contributions to support the reporting process. Skills and Experience: · Knowledge/ extensive experience in logistics management and experience of Delivery Booking Systems in the urban environment · Construction Logistics administration · Able to understand reporting requirements · Strong character in terms of ensuring compliance with planned activities/regulations and able to command respect from contractors and their hauliers/suppliers · Able to build relationships with contractors and their agents · Demonstrable experience in managing vehicular movements to loading schedules in the urban environment · Understanding of requirements associated with compliance to consent orders such as Section 61 constraints · Sound communications and interpersonal skills · Organised and proactive; takes personal ownership of targets · Knowledge of all phases of demolition and construction activity associated with deliveries and removal of wastes and materials from work sites · Knowledge of rail and/or waterborne transportation is advantageous · Understanding of the principles of Construction Consolidation Centres · CPC National preferable
