Job Description

My client is a national contractor who deliver project managed solutions through Rail, Energy and Engineering business streams.

Due to continued growth they require a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work on Network Rail Projects in the Redhill area.

Role
The purpose of this role is to be the QS responsible for the day to day running, pricing and administration of schemes procured by Network Rail Asset Management. Projects range from Structures, Drainage and Earthworks schemes in the South and South East of England. The candidate will be contributing to the profitable performance of the specialised business unit through the successful commercial and financial management of projects in their area of the region.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
The key task of this role include:
• Prompt presentation of all applications for payment, including all contractual entitlements.
• Ensuring that payments are received in accordance with the contract terms.
• Prompt presentation of Final Accounts, including negotiation of all contractual entitlements.
• Preparation of forward work schedules and cash flows.
• Procurement, negotiation and placing of Sub-contract Orders.
• Financial and commercial management of Sub-contractors through to settlement of their Final Accounts.
• Ensuring that all contractual letters/ notices are presented in accordance with the contract requirements.
• Preparation of appropriate documentation in support of additional payment, variations, claims etc
• Commercial support to the site and contracts management team
• Commercial support to the Estimating and Procurement Team.

Person Specification
Candidates for this role must be a team player and should meet the following criteria:
• Qualified to degree level or equivalent.
• Must have a ‘Contractors’ Background and preferably have experience of working with a Major Contractor.
• Several Years Rail Industry experience is essential.
• Should have a reasonably stable employment background.
• IT Literate, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
• Career Development opportunities exist for the right candidate.

Educational/Professional
Qualifications:
BSc and or equivalent or compensating experience

CSCS Requirements:
Registration preferred but not essential as registration will be supported

H&S Requirements:
Safety Awareness Training preferred but training will be given

Package is flexible and will depend on relevant experience
