Brief Vacancy Description The vacancy is for a senior project engineer specialising in Telecomms design, the services include new CIS, PAVA, data and telephone networks, control room etc. on the Birmingham Gateway Project. The project is a major project within the Investment Projects. The Birmingham Gateway Project involves the redevelopment of New Street Station in the centre of Birmingham to create a gateway building to serve Birmingham and the West Midlands. The strategic operational objectives are to improve passenger capacity, enhancements to the public and retail areas in the station and to upgrade the 1960’s station to create an iconic building the 21st century. The project involves works from platform level through concourse level, upper retail level and onto the roof .Involving a large number of stake holders and interfaces. All the works will be carried out whilst maintaining an operational railway. Detailed External Job Description Your expertise as a Senior Project Engineer will enable you to implement Network Rail systems and procedures to maintain a cost effective, high quality, safe and environmentally responsible approach to Birmingham Gateway project. Your experience will enable you to liaise with regulators and others as appropriate. A key part of this role will be to monitor the project so that it is engineered to the standards and specification of Network Rail. You must have an ability to manage all engineering activities so that they result in an affordable project and meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. The successful candidate will monitor design and specialist consultants and contractors, providing project management advice in respect of all construction activities, including testing and commissioning and site supervision. You will have the ability to manage elements of relevant the project to meet the requirements of current legislation, including construction design management regulations. An ability to arrange an audit of contractors will be required to monitor safety, environment and quality of design, construction and testing. Do you have…?
