Job Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Estimator to join their Rail division team in London Purpose of the Role The Senior Estimator is responsible for the timely production of accurate and realistic estimates for works, labour, plant, equipment, materials and sub-contract requirements during tendering and bidding and assist with contract variations for the Colas Rail Projects division. Key Accountability’s Determine quantity of work scope in a logical ordered manner. Responsible for pricing works in an analytical and systematic way using an approved system of estimating norms. Assist the Chief Estimator in the establishment and development of norms for pricing works. In conjunction with Procurement Manager liaise with subcontractors and suppliers in to obtain the best available quotations. Responsible for evaluations of options or alternatives. Work with or as Bid Manager according to the demands of the bid / tender. Production of a financial analysis of the estimate in an approved form for review. Comply with Colas Rail Tendering guidelines and procedures Ensure compliance with all legislation and industry standards Assist in the analysis of technical and contractual risk to the business Responsible for the checking of accuracy and completeness of clients tender documents Key Tasks Undertake estimating using CCS & Microsoft Excel software Undertake enquiries for suppliers and subcontractors. Undertake Risk Management/analysis Undertake the development of Project programmes in conjunction with the Planning Manager Undertake reports for senior management for commercial & technical reviews Work with the Bid Team to compile tender submission documents to client Post Tender presentations with the client Produce contract cost codes and targets. Collating feedback on actual cost/contract performance Candidate Profile Experience Experience in Estimating practice and principles Must be able to read, write and speak English to a high standard Must be numerate Experience in the use of Estimating software Experience in a construction discipline Hold a formal Qualification related to Estimating or Construction Discipline Knowledge of Railway infrastructure Ability to read and understand construction drawings Ability to read and understand design specifications Experience in contracts within the rail industry Understanding of the planning of projects Experience in procuring Subcontractors or suppliers Experience of Joint Venture and collaborative bidding. Ability to compile information for submission to clients
