Job Description
Role and responsibilities: * Provide Engineering services and technical support to the escalator project team as required. * Provide escalator design activities and support and if required lead regular design reviews. * Coordinate the delivery of the ancillary engineering requirements required for the projects. * Ensure the timely delivery of assured and fully co-ordinated design deliverables that meets specifications, applicable legislations and all relevant standards. Key Accountabilities: * Manage the design and interdisciplinary co-ordination. Ensure changes are costed and reported. * Assist the SDE in the delivery of assured engineering design requirements within the project scope to meet cost, schedule, quality and environmental targets. * Ensure the implementation of configuration management of engineering documentation within the design team as appropriate. Ensure the engineering information available to Operations and other parties is maintained to reflect ‘Latest Assured/As Built’ status * Ensure testing, commissioning and handover of all assets. * Participate in ‘Value Engineering’ and ‘whole life asset management’ to provide the optimum design to deliver contract objectives. * Manage business targets and subordinate staff’s performance, maintain personal development plans. * Ensure all work complies with applicable legislation, HSE Railway Safety Principles and Guidance and all relevant standards, including work instructions, design guidelines etc. and ensure concessions are obtained as appropriate * Support the Senior Discipline Engineer in managing the technical aspects and system interfaces and liaise with interested parties, about technical issues * Liaise with Operations to ensure any design synergies or conflicts are resolved. * Ensure design reviews are supported in accordance with the Design Management Plan. Required Skills and Experience: Specifics Essential: Demonstrates competence as a designer within the relevant discipline engineering environment Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal Desired: An established track record working on railway projects Qualifications/Status Essential: Education to degree level or equivalent qualification or extensive experience leading to IEng or CEng registration. Desired: Membership of a rail industry learned society or special interest group Membership of a recognised engineering institution Achieved Incorporated Engineer /Chartered Engineer Status Further Information: As well as the appropriate technical knowledge and skills, you will be asked to demonstrate the following key competencies if you are selected for interview: • Leading & Managing • Delivering results • Decision making • Problem solving
