Brief Vacancy Description The Enhancements portfolio covering the North and East of England is extremely wide and diverse that will require a professional Senior Construction Manager of exceptional capability. The £1bn portfolio of major projects of East Coast Main Line upgrade, Trans Pennine improvements and Midland Main Line will enhance the rail network and deliver clear and tangible benefits for millions of people. Detailed External Job Description Working as a key member of the Senior Management Team, you will play an instrumental role in ensuring that the contractor delivers good quality compliant work. You will work closely with Programme / Project teams and engineers from both Network Rail and Sub-Contractors to ensure that projects are designed and safely built to the highest standards and and to work with them to develop continuous improvement plans. You will manage a team of multi disciplined Construction Site Managers in four main offices of York, Derby, Manchester and Crewe. You will be accountable for a compliant working approach of this team and ensuring the development of processes to support day to day management of the contractors work, together with providing reports and information to the Network Rail Project Manager and others. An integral part of the role will be managing the resources available in the most efficient manner to support the delivery of a testing and very exciting portfolio. You will work as part of a professional project team and apply world class process and systems to verify compliance of both the Network Rail site managers and that of the Contractor. You will influence others to ensure that they understand the requirements and align their activities to meet the demands of the verification process. The successful candidate will have significant experience in Railway projects and multi disciplined delivery. A positive can-do attitude is essential to work closely with the designers and contractors to deliver to programme, whilst ensuring that cost efficiencies are driven throughout the process. The post will be located in either York, Manchester or Derby.
