The Blackfriars project is part of the £3.5 billion Thameslink programme that is set to revolutionise the rail network to – and through – London. At Blackfriars we are rebuilding the existing station to create a stunning interchange, building an entirely new station on the South bank of the Thames and a spectacular canopy spanning the Thames. To make sure we successfully deliver these works we are looking for outstanding people to be part of our construction team. Brief Vacancy Description Using your expertise as a Senior Construction Manager you will work as part of a professional project team using processes and systems to verify compliance of both the Network Rail site managers and contractors. The role involves managing a team of up to 6 staff and a portfolio of work of around £100 million per year. Detailed External Job Description As an experienced Senior Construction Manager you will have excellent communication skills. You will be responsible for managing a team of Site Managers to ensure all works are implemented to the required standard in accordance with the drawings and specifications. Using your extensive experience within the construction industry, including excellent knowledge of CDM Regulations, will provide you with the confidence and ability to work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial Managers and Planners. You will also be asked to provide regular reports to all relevant stakeholders on the progress of the project to enable completion and delivery of the programme. This position requires you to be a team player with strong management and inter personal skills, to enable you to liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial Managers and Planners in the delivery of programmes. Do you have….? · Outstanding construction experience - ideally in the railway industry? · Experience of leading a team of multi-discipline site management personnel on major projects? · A thorough understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental issues relating to construction? Nebosh construction certificate / CSCS/CITB scheme/Auditing competence? HNC or equivalent in construction or a relevant engineering discipline? Working Knowledge of CDM Regulations requirements? Effective communication skills and an understanding of customer requirements?
