Job Description

Department Description

Network Rail is at the heart of revitalising Britain’s railways. Over the next five years, we intend to invest £34.6 billion on improving and developing the rail network. From multi-million pound schemes, such as the rejuvenation of King’s Cross station and the upgrade and expansion of Thameslink, to Europe’s largest civil engineering project - Crossrail, we are involved in some of the most ambitious and diverse ventures the UK has ever seen. Working with us you’ll benefit from state-of-the-art training and a second-to-none support network, all in a company with an annual turnover that equals those within the top 5 of the FTSE 100.

This role is in the Farringdon Team, part of the Stations and Civils element of the Thameslink Programme. You will be working in a highly motivated team of Contractors, Designers and Network Rail project staff, supported by a central Consents, Environment and Property team. Farringdon Station presents many challenges in terms of its location and the constrained environment, its listed Heritage status and its many and varied stakeholders. This job will be a rewarding challenge to anyone who enjoys a varied work load and the chance to influence outcomes which are crucial to the success of the project.

Brief Vacancy Description

Using your expertise as a Senior Construction Manager you will work as part of a professional project team using processes and systems to verify compliance of both the Network Rail site managers and contractors. The role involves managing a team of up to 3 staff and a portfolio of work of around £250 million per year.

Detailed External Job Description

As an experienced Senior Construction Manager you will have excellent communication skills. You will be responsible for managing a team of Site Managers to ensure all works are implemented to the required standard in accordance with the drawings and specifications.

Using your extensive experience within the construction industry, including excellent knowledge of CDM Regulations, will provide you with the confidence and ability to work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial Managers and Planners. You will also be asked to provide regular reports to all relevant stakeholders on the progress of the project to enable completion and delivery of the programme.

This position requires you to be a team player with strong management and inter personal skills, to enable you to liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial Managers and Planners in the delivery of programmes.
