Due to an increase in work and a restructuring within the division, our client, a leading construction company is seeking to employ a Senior Buyer to be based in their South Yorkshire office.

The purpose of the role is to improve competitive tenders to meet the company targets and to assist with the further development of supply chain relationships.

You will establish a hand on and collaborative approach to the efficient procurement of materials and services on appropriate economic, technical and commercial terms at both tender and contract stages. You will consider the on-going maintenance, review and further development of strategic long-term relationships with Key-suppliers via preferred Trading Agreements negotiated on both a regional and national basis.

You will be responsible for the day to day purchasing of various goods and services, building strong relationships and sourcing new suppliers. You will negotiate price ad lead times as well as identifying opportunities for cost reduction.

It is essential that you are experienced in procurement, preferably within the civil engineering sector of construction, rail experience would be an advantage, but is not essential. You will display a depth of experience in the field of contracting including a thorough understanding of the tendering and construction process.
