Brief Vacancy Description Network Rail is looking to appoint a Scheme Project Manager to support the Major renewal project at Edinburgh waverley Station. This project has been broken down into 4 packages of work and the Scheme Project Manager post being recruited against will primarily be responsible for the delivery of Package 3, Market Street Entrance and Platform 8&9 canopies. Successful delivery of this package will require close liaison with ongoing major roof and platform works within the Main station area. This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to be part of the team responsible for the development and delivery of this major project from detailed design, through contract award and delivery on site. It is planned to commence work on site in late 2010, preceeded by the tender process, expected to commence in May 2010. This will represent a significant challenge to the successful applicant. The Scheme Project Manager will be responsible for the safe delivery of the project within the control period within the available budget. Network Rail are looking for excellent team players with strong communication skills, a ‘can do’ attitude and demonstrating personal and professional integrity. Using your experience as a Scheme Project Manager you will help to enhance Network Rail’s reputation as a reliable deliverer of major capital projects. Detailed External Job Description As a Scheme Project Manager you will support the Project Manager in delivering a variety of projects, to achieve this you will liaise closely with senior management colleagues and external contractors and consultants. You will help to co-ordinate the commissioning, design and construction through to safety, finance and testing; your involvement will touch on all aspects of the project life cycle and allow you to develop and strengthen your project management capabilities. Although project experience of major construction projects in an operational environment is desirable, what will set you apart is your motivation and natural flair for dealing with people at all levels.
