Brief Vacancy Description Using your experience as a Scheme Project Manager you will help to enhance Network Rail’s reputation as a reliable deliverer of major capital projects. A vacancy exists within the London Northern Eastern Minor Works Team for a Scheme Project Manager based in York. The department delivers a total budget of circa £19m of various forms of Civil Engineering contracts, scheme design, development and implementation. The department is responsible for delivering primarily Maintenance and Renewal works on Civil Engineering assets. Detailed External Job Description As Scheme Project Manager you will support the Project Manager and Team in delivering a variety of projects to time, cost and quality criteria, in line with Network Rail Company Standards, current legislation and procedures. To achieve this you will liaise closely with senior management colleagues, internal customers and external contractors/consultants. You will be the link between all disciplines and will be responsible for delivering the project from cradle to grave including; managing the contractors; monitoring their performance, chairing periodic meetings, providing financial and reporting information, managing risk and change within the project life cycle, assisting with commercial close out and assisting with land access issues. Your involvement will touch on all aspects of the project life cycle and allow you to develop and strengthen your project management capabilities. It’s not necessary for you to have rail industry experience. In fact, what will set you apart is your motivation and natural flair for dealing with people at all levels. Do you have….? · A degree, HNC or professional qualification in construction or engineering? · Good leadership and commercial skills? · Project management experience within a large construction environment? · Knowledge of safety regulations? · Knowledge of quality and environmental procedures? · An appreciation of contractual arrangements? Are you….? · A Member (or working towards membership) of the Association for Project Management or other professional body? Able to communicate to people at all levels of the business? Appreciative of commercial and financial procedures? Ambition to progress within the organisation?
