Job Description

As a Sourcing Manager you’ll ensure delivery of optimal commercial arrangement through the application of our Strategic Sourcing framework, proactively developing relationships with supplier to support business need.



In order to deliver commercial arrangements you’ll manage data collection, working collaboratively with customers, supplier and key functions to develop demand forecasts for requirements across product and asset lifecycles. Part forecasting is supplying market analysis to make key business decisions, drawing conclusions to provide fact based advice to customers. Once you’ve assessed the demand you’ll be at the forefront of applying fact based principles to demand and supply analysis, working within an agreed remit and following internal governance procedure



As the outward persona, you’ll manage supplier bases, acting as a key point of contact to ensure that our suppliers are fully engaged and motivated to provide the best commercial deals industry wide. You’ll deliver all categories relevant by sourcing, tendering and negotiating in accordance with our Strategic Sourcing framework.



You’ll bring with you the necessary determination and innovation to identify and implement quality and efficiency initiatives, ensuring that they are delivered to time, budget and cost.



Key Accountabilities:

• To manage and support project teams to achieve agreed business priorities within agreed reporting lines.

• To contribute to the delivery of the category strategies for IT Hardware by sourcing, tendering and negotiating in accordance with our Strategic Sourcing framework in order to deliver innovative, effective, value-driven contracting arrangements. To ensure compliance with OJEU utility regulations

• To act as a key point of contact for the category group for both internal and external stakeholders.

• To undertake data collection activities, working collaboratively with internal customers, to develop robust business-wide demand forecasts for each requirement across product/ asset lifecycles. Identify inconsistencies in current processes and specifications. Recommend sourcing opportunities.

• To undertake supply market analysis (understand trends, cost drivers etc.) and use this information to provide fact based advice to customers to support decision making.

• To work collaboratively with the business to develop and implement smaller category strategies (<£25m pa) to an agreed remit, or support the development of larger category strategies by following the governance process and applying fact-based principles based upon rigorous demand and supply analysis, maximising benefits and opportunities and minimising risk to business, using the appropriate level of resource and meeting the needs of the internal customer(s).



Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

Essential-

• Evidence of understanding Strategic Sourcing best practice and ability to apply knowledge to develop strategic sourcing strategies for less complex/critical categories to deliver innovative and effective outcomes at individual contract levels up to a value of ~£25m.

• Proven track record of benefits delivery through the application of strategic sourcing techniques and use of eSourcing / eTendering systems.

• Experience in supporting negotiating teams and applying appropriate fact-based tactics and techniques to achieve optimal outcomes.

• Experience in sourcing IT equipment and an understanding of the Channel structure in the IT market place.

• Ability to draw conclusions from financial analysis for use in strategy formulation and supplier negotiation, including innovative approach to pricing strategies.

• Good working knowledge of Supplier Relationship Management best practice.

• Deals with people with integrity, providing constructive feedback.


Desirable-

• Experience of introducing innovation to complex and inert/change adverse environments.

• Good working knowledge of IT

• Good project management discipline

• Proven commercial track record in capital intensive, asset rich industries – preferably with exposure to EU procurement and competition law.

• Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status.



The Strategic Sourcing Function provides analysis and insight to aid senior management decision making. It is a small team that undertakes specific high value or high profile analytical projects. The projects address issues impacting diverse aspects of the business, but their common objectives are to provide fresh insights into business performance and to develop proposals for improvement based on sound analysis. As a Sourcing Manager, you will provide specialist advice and guidance to mitigate risks.
