We are looking for a Senior Project Manager for the Bogies Division

Your Role

The role of the Project Manager within Bombardier Transportation Bogies Division is business rather than technically orientated and carries with it full P&L responsibility for the project.

The Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of all aspects of the Project in terms of fulfilling the contracted obligations and operating within the standard pre-set governance framework of BTBOG and the prevailing local Business Unit organisation structure to which the Project is attached.
The nature of the Project Manager role is challenging and rewarding and requires the candidate to be an accomplished practitioner in each of the following skill sets:-
Project Management Technical
Management and Leadership
Contract and Commercial
Business and Behavioral
This role will give pan European exposure necessitating excellent language skills in English and Italian. Based in Derby (UK) for circa 18 months during design phase and migrating to Siegen (Germany) with the commencement of the project execution / manufacturing phase. Additionally travel will be required to other Bombardier sites and customer locations.

Your Challenges
Manage the Project Initiation and Planning processes to establish with Bogie Division Business Functions, other Divisions of BT, AB Partner and Suppliers as appropriate a fully integrated Detailed Project Schedule (DPS), Risk and Opportunities Plan, Orange Book, Contract Allocation, financial parameters, EAC etc in line with contract.
Manage the Project Execution and Controlling processes to ensure all contract deliverables are identified and delivered in line with the DPS and the requirements of the Bogie Business and Bombardier Transportation. Manage the execution of the project to deliver the EAC and other financial targets as necessary and appropriate.
Manage the integration of the Functional Deliverables to the Project through the establishment of an effective Project Core Team: develop effective relationships with all functional heads to ensure that there is visibility of Project status and that all emerging issues are identified; facilitate the resolution of performance problems whilst observing the integrity of the Functional Teams.
Manage the delivery of Project to scope requirements: manage change processes to ensure all Variations are captured and converted to opportunities with robust realization plans.
Build and Manage effective relationships with all customer interfaces internal to BOG and BT Divisions, AB Partner and Trenitalia as necessary. Protect companys interests and maximise opportunity for further business. Build and Manage effective relationships with the supplying divisions and supply chain as appropriate.
Ensure that Project Risk and Opportunity issues are managed effectively: emerging issues should be analysed on a continuous basis and appropriate mitigation plans are put into place.


Qualifications

Your Experience and Qualifications
A broad rail engineering understanding is necessary and knowledge of Bogies and Wheelsets is preferable.
The person should have practical experience of managing the project initiation, planning and execution phases of a live project. This should be reinforced by undertaking the company standard training in Project Initiation and Planning (PIP) and Project Execution and Controlling (PEC).
Additionally the management across the various cultural barriers in Bombardier in general and the Bogies Division in particular requires a level of cultural awareness and management dexterity to ensure optimum solutions are found to the various problems that arise during project execution.
The jobholder should be educated to degree level (BSc / BEng) in engineering or business related discipline.
Candidates should be willing to travel extensively at some periods and to learn a second language. Practical knowledge of a second European Language would be ideal.
