Job Description

Department Description

Network Rail is at the heart of revitalising Britain’s railway. Over the next five years, we intend to invest £34.6 billion on improving and developing the rail network. From multi-million pound schemes, such as the rejuvenation of King’s Cross station and the upgrade and expansion of Thameslink, to Europe’s largest civil engineering project - Crossrail, we are involved in some of the most ambitious and diverse ventures the UK has ever seen. Working with us you’ll benefit from state-of-the-art training and a second-to-none support network, all in a company with an annual turnover that equals those within the top 5 of the FTSE 100.

Brief Vacancy Description

The Thameslink Programme is a £3.5bn rail infrastructure project that will enhance the rail network to and through London, delivering clear and tangible benefits for millions of people. The plans would significantly increase capacity on the over-ground railway to and through London, via Kings Cross St. Pancras in the north and Blackfriars and London Bridge in the south.

Using your expertise in Project Management, you’ll enjoy implementing and monitoring an exciting variety of projects, ensuring they’re engineered to the high standards we expect.

Detailed External Job Description

Managing all engineering activities, you’ll ensure the projects you work on are of an incredibly high standard and result in value-for-money schemes. Naturally we’ll expect each and every project to be environmentally responsible, while meeting our expectations regarding time, cost and quality.

Alongside the monitoring of projects, you’ll also allocate design and construction contracts, provide project management advice to colleagues and contractors, and undertake reviews of design and contract activities.

It’s not necessary for you to have rail industry experience. In fact, what will set you apart is your motivation and natural flair for dealing with people at all levels.
