Job Description
Department & how it relates to the role Delivering our projects to a high standard is of vast importance to this project and Network Rail, this role plays a significant part in helping the Scheme and Project Managers. The Thameslink Programme is a £3.5bn rail infrastructure project that will enhance the rail network to and through London, delivering clear and tangible benefits for millions of people. The plans would significantly increase capacity on the over-ground railway to and through London, via Kings Cross St. Pancras in the north and Blackfriars and London Bridge in the south. (Farringdon) This role is in the Farringdon Team, part of the Stations and Civils element of the Thameslink Programme. You will be working in a highly motivated team of Contractors, Designers and Network Rail project staff, supported by a central Consents, Environment and Property team. Farringdon Station presents many challenges in terms of its location and the constrained environment, its listed Heritage status and its many and varied stakeholders. This job will be a rewarding challenge to anyone who enjoys a varied work load and the chance to influence outcomes which are crucial to the success of the project. You’ll be charged with acting as advisor to colleagues within the project – which will demand exemplary organisation skills and an ability to communicate with staff at all levels. It will open up opportunities to develop into line management or more advisory planning, environment or consents roles, depending on your career aspirations. About the role (External) As a Project Management Assistant you will support the project management team by helping to deliver high profile projects on time and within budget by using the latest in project management tools and techniques. Using your excellent organisation skills you will process and monitor contractor possession and isolation applications so that the applications are completed and submitted in time, this will also involve health and safety risk assessments that have been carried out by contractors. It’s not necessary for you to have rail industry experience. In fact, what will set you apart is your motivation and natural flair for dealing with people at all levels.
