Job Description
Department & how it relates to the role You will be applying for the post of Project Engineer (E&P) and you will work as part of the Signalling & Electrification Programme within the Infrastructure Projects organisation. The Birmingham team are involved with multiple E&P projects, namely, new electrification schemes, substation renewal projects, HV cable renewal projects and signalling power supplies projects. You will work as a Project Engineer or the Designated Project Engineer on these projects, and will responsible for ensuring their successful completion in accordance with Network Rail standards and the contract requirements. About the role (External) Your expertise as a Project Engineer will enable you to implement Network Rail systems and procedures to maintain a cost effective, high quality, safe and environmentally responsible approach to relevant projects. Your experience will enable you to liaise with regulators and others as appropriate. A key part of this role will be to monitor specific projects managed by Infrastructure Investment so that they are engineered to the standards and specification of Network Rail. You must have an ability to manage all engineering activities so that they result in schemes that are affordable and meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. The successful candidate will monitor design and specialist consultants and contractors, providing project management advice in respect of all construction activities, including testing and commissioning and site supervision. You will have the ability to manage elements of relevant projects to meet the requirements of current legislation, including construction design management regulations. An ability to arrange an audit of contractors will be required to monitor safety, environment and quality of design, construction and testing. Specifially, you must have A good knowledge of DC traction supply systems and / or 25kV AC traction supply systems. Engineering qualifications to HNC/HND or equivalent GNVQ level Experience in quality assurance. A good awareness of CDM 2007 regulations. The ability to make informed decisions. You must be Motivated and inspired. Enthusiastic. Able to communicate well. A strong team player.
