Job Description
One of the UKs leading rail contractors are seeking an procurement manager/senior buyer to join their developing team within commutable distance of Harlow, Stevenage, Emfield, Hoddeston, Royston and Barnett. There may be opportunities within central London as well. To be suitable for the position you must have; Recent experience of working for a rail biased company working on multidisciplinary rail projects. Extensive knowledge of trades and materials in civil engineering and rail sectors. A minimum of 15 years experience within the construction industry with 10 years in procurement. Fully conversant with the submarkets in the construction sector, particularly civils and rail. Although not essential it would also be advantageous if you had; Knowledge of common use sub-contract documents including FCEC, DOM, ECC and GC works I. Computer literate. A CIPS professional qualification, or be working towards this. ROLE INFORMATION Send out tender sub-contract and materials enquiries for assessment Manage the return of timely quotations. Head up supplier meetings. Review procurement strategy. Lead and negotiate deals.
