Job Description
Job Description The Principal Mechanical Engineer will join an established MEP team of circa 25 engineers, to be based in our Croydon head office. Principal accountabilities will include leading the team of mechanical engineers as well as project teams. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Engineer who is looking to progress their career into management, and who ideally is looking for long term development to Director level. Responsibilities to include: - Lead the Mechanical Engineering team, working to develop technical skills and provide direction for career development - lead Mechanical and Electrical teams on specific projects being responsible for both technical and commercial delivery - Networking with both internal and external clients - Producing fee proposals in response to inquiries for review by directors - Some short-term international travel may be required on occasion Note: This job description reflects the present requirements of the post. As duties and responsibilities change and develop the job description will be reviewed and be subject to amendment in consultation with the post holder. Candidate Specification Essential competencies/skills: - Excellent technical skills with an in depth understanding of sustainable design - An excellent and professional communicator, with experience of networking with both internal and external clients - Excellent IT skills Essential academic/professional qualifications, training and experience: - A Chartered Engineer (CEng), with membership of CIBSE or IMechE - Demonstrable experience in Electrical design - Experience of leading a design team - Experience of working in UK Electrical Engineering, with a thorough involvement in the project cycle - Experience of station design and the Rail sector design process - Experience of working in various project sectors including industrial; rail; performance venues; retail; education; healthcare and commercial Desired academic/professional qualifications, training and experience - Ideally degree educated in a relevant engineering discipline
