Infrastructure Projects Enhancements is delivering £13bn of improvements to the national railway over the current five year investment period including, on the Western Route, the Re-Doubling of the Cotswold and Swindon-Kemble Lines, 10ft Clearance for freight traffic from Southampton to the West Coast Main Line, and a new station at Newport amongst a number of other improvements.

Brief Vacancy Description

To assist Project Planners and Project Managers by developing, updating and inputting project plans into project support systems, seeking updated information and preparing reports as required. This role will also provide a training post to develop staff into Project Planners.

Detailed External Job Description

· Prepare as directed and in consultation with key project personnel and suppliers project plans capable of delivering the project objectives, and enter these plans into planning support systems and when directed, develop recovery programmes and contingency plans in order to meet changed objectives.
· Assist the Project Planner by obtaining resource and cost forecasts to support plans, load these into planning systems as required, and monitor progress to the plan seeking feedback from Project personnel and make changes as required.
· Input the planning issues into the projects critical issues risk log, updating the risk register periodically as directed.
· Support the Project Planner by monitoring and auditing contractor plans, seeking information from suppliers as necessary, including the review of progress for payment purposes.
· Support the Programme Controls Manager by assisting with compiling and issuing reporting and systems maintenance.
