Department & how it relates to the role

The National Delivery Service (NDS) under its Director Martin Elwood brings together a wide range of products and services on a ‘one-stop shop’ basis.

The National Track Materials Recycling Centre (NTMRC) located in March, Cambridgeshire is a brand new purpose built facility and provides a new and exciting opportunity for NDS.

The National Track Materials Recycling Centre is a part of the wider NDS Materials Team.
The National Delivery Service (NDS) Materials team manages the procurement of a wide range of infrastructure material including rail, switches and crossings, aggregates, sleepers and maintenance spares. The team is also responsible for managing all product quality matters, recycling used infrastructure material and management of road deliveries.

About the role (External)

The role will undertake work as allocated safely and efficiently within the new NTMRC.

Key Accountabilities

1. Carry out work safely and in accordance with the safe systems of work procedures, method statements or other instructions.
2. Undertake work and associated duties for which you are trained and competent.
3. Undertake work activities as directed, in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with all relevant standards.
4. Check that vehicles, plant, tools, equipment and materials under your control are fit for use and are used/stored and disposed of correctly.
5. Contribute to your own development.
6. Adhere to company policies and procedures.

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

1. Able to work as part of team.
2. Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
3. Hold and retain competencies relevant to this post, required by the business need.
4. Ideally hold (or be working towards) an NVQ 1 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
5. Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
6. Experience of safe use of gas oxy/propane equipment.
7. Hold and retain competence to operate up to a 29t loading shovel.
8. Hold and retain competence to operate up to a 30t material loading/excavator.
9. Experienced in working within a busy yard.
10. Experienced in dealing with varying types of plant/machinery.
