Our Large Rail Client based in East London / Kent is currently looking for a Materials Services Manager

The role is to lead and direct the materials team to ensure that the Engineering depots hold the materials required enabling them to deliver safe and reliable trains into service every day, whilst keeping a very tight control on the expenditure that is incurred.

Job Description
You will be accountable for ensuring that contracts are set up and managed for all suppliers ensuring that they have the capability to meet our needs and that performance is measured to enable ongoing management.
Accountable for the implementation of a robust warranty system to ensure that all claims are made and followed through to conclusion.
Responsible for chairing materials WAR room meeting setting clear direction for the materials team
Responsible for the development and Management of all individuals within the materials team.
Responsible for issuing monthly Materials Performance Report before the Period Review Management Meetings and initiate and control action highlighted.
Responsible for the development of cost reduction initiatives that meet the targets set by the Head of Materials & Planning and demonstrating the achievement by using KPI•s.

Key Accountablities
You•ll be responsible for forecasting all material requirements for Fleet maintenance including heavy repairs, examinations and unplanned repairs to ensure that supply meets demand at all times.
Responsible for producing the materials budget to ensure that an accurate forecast can be made of the expenditure that will be accrued in the budgeted period.
You will be accountable for ensuring that all orders are placed in accordance with company procurement and local procedures.
Ensuring that all materials that are not delivered on the due date are followed up with the suppliers.
Responsible for monitoring expenditure and keeping tight financial control.
Accountable for ensuring that all materials are received, stored and issued in accordance with local procedures to ensure that the products are in a serviceable condition when used.
Responsible for Developing and using a set of KPI•s to ensure that we keep tight financial control on expenditure, costs are kept under control and units are not stopped awaiting material.
Accountable for the development and Implementation of procedures / work instructions that are required to ensure all activities within the materials function are performed in a professional and consistent manner

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications
Must be financially aware and be able to demonstrate a high level of control.
Good understanding of procurement processes and legislation.
Strong managerial and interpersonal skills and experience of leading a team. Good understanding of IMACS and CODA.
Problem solving skills.
Commercial Awareness.
Planning and organising- Organises and schedules events, activities and resources.
Good communication skills.
Leadership skills and the ability to motivate others.
Honesty & Integrity- Is transparent and honest and takes full responsibility for actions.
Professionalism.
Analytical with excellent attention to detail
