Your role

You will be responsible for (a) ensuring that the right material is available to the Fleet Management Operations on time, at the right quality and at the right costs (total costs of ownership), (b) managing all customer contractual obligations related to Spares (including the management of the Initial Spares / Customer Owned Spares float) and (c) managing the overall project supply chain (including internal and external suppliers) to achieve a world class supply chain performance using Materials Solutions and Industry Best Practices. There will be a requirement for On Call support. Initially this role will be based at New Cross Gate in London, moving to the Ilford Seven Kings depot in August 2010.

Your Challenges
Managing the interface between the fleet management operations and the key internal suppliers (ie Material Solutions and Fleet Support facilities) and external suppliers including demand forecasting, the Ordering and replenishment process and inventory management to ensure accurate forecasting and budgeted cost tracking. This includes setting up and managing Service Agreements where necessary (i.e. Calibration, UAT, Bearing change service, Paint etc)

Managing the onsite and off-site stores to ensure inventories are kept to an optimum level to achieve both material availability and financial performance. Monitoring (a) the material availability performance of the supply chain and (b) the financial value of inventory levels to drive improvement initiatives.

Managing the performance and development of a small team of Material Controllers and Materials Handlers.

Managing the implementation of the CODE 30+ cost reduction initiatives on the project to achieve optimum EAC benefits and drive margin enhancement projects, which could be through LTSAs or price re-negotiation.. Monitoring the financial performance of the project in terms of direct material costs by deploying the Bombardier standard processes available.

Managing the physical and transactional flow of materials within the maintenance depot and between the depot and the supply chain including storage, transport, issuing and returns to production (including kitting of exam materials where applicable), receipts and returns of material to the supply chain (including management of the ‘rotable’ process, material rejection and returns). Ensuring that the Business Systems used (SAP, Maximo) are well deployed and the required information is recorded in a timely and accurate manner. Producing and maintaining key performance indicators to report and develop the supply chain performance.

Providing the project team and all external stake-holders (including customer and operator) a professional procurement / supply chain expertise. Ensuring that the project implements procurement and supply chain management best practices (company and industry wide initiatives) to achieve continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Your Experience and Qualifications
Proven experience in Materials Management within the rail industry (preferred),
University degree or equivalent through experience, complemented by a demonstrated track record of success.
CIPS qualification desirable
Strong communications skills and good commercial acumen,
Computer literate, Excel skills essential as is knowledge of SAP or similar electronic parts stock system.
Good understanding of English language (written and verbal)
Structured, analytical with good attention to detail
