Job Description

Department & how it relates to the role

Network Rail’s Competence and Training organisation delivers an effective competence and development service in order to continuously improve safety, performance, engagement and esteem. Competence and Training strives to capture the routine business and forward plan emerging requirements to ensure Network Rail meets its operational requirements and workforce development remit, deliver the training needed to meet Network Rails Competency Framework Requirements, and invest in our people and resources to ensure quality is inherent from the start in our service and products.

About the role (External)

As Materials & Systems Development Assistant, your role will be to develop and enhance training materials, maintaining and administering appropriate document control systems and processes to Network Rail’s agreed quality and safety standards.

Key Accountabilities

1. Produce diagrams, drawings, lesson plans and other supporting visual aids for training and assessment materials.

2. Maintain effective control of all programme/project documentation and databases, consistent with Materials & Systems and national standards and processes.

3. Liaise and consult with Materials & Systems Project Managers as required to clarify requirements and maintain adherence to quality and timescale requirements.

4. Enforce the use of Network Rail branding requirements and Materials & Systems house styles and templates monitoring that they are consistently applied, maintaining an audit trail of draft materials and confirming that final versions are proofed and approved prior to issue.

5. Distribute new/updated materials to all relevant users maintaining records of issue and receipt of documents to users.

6. Establish, monitor and comply with document control processes and storage of soft and hard copy media

7. Issue communications and updates on Training and Assessment materials to internal and external customers and stakeholders in accordance with document control requirements.

8. Provide administration services as may be required in relation to the administration of Materials & Systems processes and systems

Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

· Must be highly proficient in use of relevant Microsoft Office and Adobe design software
· Strong attention to detail
· Good organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
· Experience in general office administration
· Experience in the use of document control and records management systems

Desirable

· Relevant drawing/design qualification
· Document Control experience
