Job Description
Tasks

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for mechanical repairs to electronic panels, units, modules, motors and associated driven systems in accordance with FRA/Amtrak standards and guidelines. Utilizes and maintains qualification in oxygen acetylene, Tig, Stick, Mig welding, presses, cutting torches, air impact gun, grinder and other hand tools used to diagnose malfunctions. Troubleshoots and replaces or rebuilds various mechanical equipment and systems as necessary. Calibrates pressure switches, valves and thermostats in compliance with CFR-49 and Amtrak established standards. Inspects and sends components out for approved overhaul and repair and follows up on replacement as necessary. Maintains proper care and use of materials, test equipment, machines, vehicles, and personal hand tools normally associated with mechanical craft in conjunction with specific systems and equipment. Works within the guidelines of Amtraks System Safety Program.

EDUCATION: Must have High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have experience in test equipment/system specifications, repairs, and the ability to

read and interpret schematics and blue prints. Must have experience in sanding/soldering/brazing and hydraulic equipment operation systems. Maintains thorough knowledge and skill in the use of electrical/machinist tools, equipment and the measurements necessary to meet established standards. Must be able to safely operate a work crane. Must be reliable in attendance and timeliness in reporting to work.
