Job Description

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CANDIDATES CONSIDERED NO RELOCATION BENEFITS (PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT RE-APPLY) DUTIES: Repairs mechanical tools, on-track equipment, and roadway machinery used by Maintenance of Way (MOW) employees. Any person who has served an apprenticeship or who has some years experience at the trade must have a combination of skill and experience that qualifies him/her to capably perform all work necessary to do the following: dismantle, repair, maintain, assemble, inspect, and test track, motor cars, and other roadway machines such as portable air compressors, pumps, tie tamping machines, tie boring machines, power wrenches, Caterpillar tractors, and any other similar machines used by the Maintenance of Way Department. EDUCATION: Must have High School Diploma/GED, technical training. Prefer machinist apprenticeship program. WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have some experience with heavy equipment repairs, hydraulic diagnosing, and repairs. Prefer extensive diagnosing and repair experience with heavy equipment repairs, hydraulic systems, and electronic systems. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid drivers license and be able to obtain a medical card for CMV. COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Requires good written and verbal communication skills.
