Position Description:

LEAD PLUMBING AND FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEER

1) Position involves performing fire protection and plumbing engineering and design for transit, industrial, commercial and institutional projects and may include the following functions:

1. Prepare design criteria documents, calculations, drawings and specifications for plumbing and fire protection systems including: domestic cold water system, water treatment, domestic hot water systems, sanitary drainage and vent systems, storm drainage systems, pumping systems, special plumbing systems and fire suppression systems.
2. Develop costs estimates for systems.
3. Serve as engineer-of-record for design documents and reports covering fire protection and plumbing systems.
4. Provide support during construction activities.
5. Attend meetings with clients, agency and project team.

2) Project assignments may include, although not limited to, vehicular or rail tunnels, transportation centers, transit maintenance facilities, parking structures, or pump stations.
3) This is an excellent technical leadership position for a proficient engineer to influence production of engineering design for a national client base in an internationally recognized global firm in a field designated for expansion.

Requirements:
Experience Required:

1) Proficiency with AutoCAD or Microstation is desitred and proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required. Experience with Revit is desirable.
2) Proficiency with hydraulic design software is desirable.
3) Must be proficient in the interpretation and application of the NFPA Standards and applicable building codes.
4) Experience to include: facilities surveys, reports, feasibility studies, design, specifications, cost estimating, construction activity support, owners engineer; and supervision of less experienced engineers and designers and technicians. Areas of experience should include one or more of the following categories of facilities: Vehicular and rail tunnels, transit, aviation, industrial, commercial, educational, health care, or governmental.
5) At least 10 years experience in engineering and design of fire protection and plumbing systems.

Education Required:

1) Bachelor’s Degree is required.
2) Professional Engineering (P.E.) California license or ability to obtain license is required.
3) LEED accreditation is desirable.
4) Legally qualified to work in the United States.
