Description:

This Lead Architect/Engineer will be responsible for the supervision of a team of engineers and architects in their oversight role of the design-build contract for the Maintenance and Storage Facility within the USD 5.5billion Honolulu High-Capacity Transit Corridor Project.

Serving on the staff of the General Engineering Consultant (GEC), the position will report to the Contract Manager. Responsibilities will include the following:

* Coordinate the development of design and construction documents during final design of the facility buildings to ensure compatibility between and among various disciplines and system elements.
* Coordinate building elements with the Site Design Interface Engineer responsible for site improvement facilities to ensure the site and buildings are designed in accordance with the contract documents.
* Process design and construction submittals; direct documents to appropriate resources for review and response using Primavera Contract Management.
* Participate in the review and comment process for design and construction submittals from the Design-Builder.
* Participate in meetings with designer-builder and client, contributing in areas within purview; generate meeting minutes as required.
* Assist in the development of design-builder change orders.
* Supervise and coordinate the activities of multiple field engineers, independent test labs, and other entities working at the site.
* Serve as primary GEC point of contact for design-build contractor’s project building field superintendent.
* Review and approve field engineer daily observation reports for building improvements
* Assist in preparing weekly and monthly reports as needed.
* Keep Contract Manager apprised of progress and issues.
* Organize and oversee quality assurance inspections and verification testing.
* Participate in Substantial Completion Inspections.
* Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Requirements:

* Bachelor’s Degree. Degree in Engineering or Architecture preferred.
* Minimum of 10 years experience.
* Experience in design and construction of industrial/maintenance facilities is required. Transit design and construction is preferred.
* Large project experience. Rail experience is a plus.
* Quality assurance or quality control experience.
* Strong communication and people skills.
* Computer literate and familiar with data base systems.
* LEED Certification is a plus.
* Team player.
