Job Description

Our clients are a leading rail engineering organisation in the UK, they are currently recruiting for an experience Head of Engineering to act as professional head in all technical aspects of traction and rolling stock maintenance and repair.

Salary
Up to £75,000 p/a (Dependant on Experience)

Role Description
The role requires the successful candidate to guarantee the company engineering standards and procedures are applied to ensure that the traction and rolling stock meet the provisions of mandatory railway group & company standards and codes of practice. You will set the limits and verify the adequacy, safety integrity, policy and engineering standards of the maintenance, renewal and repair of the company\s traction and rolling stock assets with regard to cost effectiveness and reliability.
Within this post you will have financial responsibility for rolling stock assets up to £450m whilst leading and directing the audit process to ensure the practical adherence of the maintenance and overhaul activity to the documented process, to allow both procedure and process improvement.
This role can also be broken down into numerous other principal accountabilities to include but not limited to:-
- Undertake reviews of maintenance regimes where applicable due to changes in fleet performance, due to safety, financial or reliability issues,
- Sign off all engineering change acting as, or commissioning an independent competent person as appropriate,
- Provide health & safety management of subordinate staff, including safety briefing, objective setting and monitoring etc...
- Participate in industry standards and steering groups as required,
- Sign off engineering change,
- Direct technical investigations and report on incidents, failures and defects to include implementation and development of a risk assessment system,
- Prioritise, lead and direct the major projects engineer to ensure that the key strategic projects are delivered in support of the business,

Required Experience
Candidates wishing to apply for this role must have a minimum of 10 years broad based experience of traction and rolling stock and at least 5 years experience in a supervisory or man-management role with the ability to make sound engineering decisions.
Candidates will be degree qualified in electrical / mechanical engineering and preferably be a Chartered Engineer.
