Department & how it relates to the role



Infrastructure Projects re-launches as a regionally-based business unit of Network Rail from April 2012. In addition to four regional delivery units (current work includes Crossrail and the redevelopment of King Cross station); its scope includes a national Signalling division, Thameslink, and the Railway Communication System programmes. Its remit is the efficient delivery of renewals and enhancements on our railway through professional control and management of capital projects. Infrastructure Projects is aligned closely to Network Rail’s ten routes to give better coordination across the business and to deliver capital projects efficiently and at best value.

About the role (External)



The key purpose of this role is to manage and enhance the relationship with existing clients and partners within the region to achieve successful delivery of projects and manage expectations. To develop relationships with potential clients & partners that may generate future commissions. To identify and develop future business opportunities which the region may bid for and win. To work with and advise the Commercial teams on the bid strategy for any suitable works identified. To support the bids once they have been handed to Commercial.





Key Accountabilities

· Obtain all the commercial targets as by Regional Director

· Build & develop strong networks with clients and partners to achieve mutually beneficial relationships that enable effective project delivery and support

· Lead on the relationship management with clients that allow collaborative working and shared success

· Challenge internal working practices to enable successful customer satisfaction

· Act as lead on major communications from the region to clients and support emergency situations

· Develop excellent market intelligence in appropriate local markets, on which the regional commercial team may bid for work on the uncontested market

· Lead on the analysis and identification of future opportunities that are financially beneficial to the region, obtain funding to develop opportunities and make detailed recommendations and risk assessments upon these

· To work with & advise the regional commercial teams on any strategy or decision making relating to the bid process

· Identify and engage with potential clients to generate future work and influence their approach and strategy

· Identify & develop strategic relationships with similar companies that may facilitate future collaborative ventures between both parties

· Work closely with senior executives to provide specialist advice and guidance necessary to understand and exploit potential opportunities within the market

· Define processes, systems and quality standards for the management of market intelligence and market analysis. Monitor adherence to these standards, processes and systems



Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential



· Experience in securing business in similar markets

· First class customer relationship management at senior level

· Excellent influencing skills

· Proven senior management & leadership experience

· Professional academic qualification



Desirable

· Previous experience of brand development & management

· Previous ownership & implementation of high level international marketing strategies

· Relevant rail sector experience
