Department & how it relates to the role



Network Rail is planning to transfer certain activities of our business to a new National Centre which will open in Milton Keynes during 2012. You should be aware that this position will be included in this move.

About the role (External)



Key Accountabilities



· Lead the development of cross discipline processes to meet engineering, asset management and corporate goals, taking account of financial analysis, user and stakeholder requirements and assessment of impact of business change.

· Lead the identification of opportunities to improve, rationalise, or remove processes to improve business efficiency in a safe manner, respond to business and process change proposals from the engineering community and process users.

· leading the development of a system approach to engineering decision making, identifying and maximising potential business benefits and efficiency improvements

· Manage the development and implementation of processes and procedures to deliver effective and efficient management of engineering activities, identifying opportunities to maximise commercial returns from resources, products and activities.

· Work with the National Standards Manager to lead the implementation of the company standard management system for the change, challenge and approval processes for cross-discipline engineering standards.

· Lead the management and integration of business change activities for Engineering.

· Lead the development and ongoing review of risk management processes for systems engineering activities

· Monitor and develop plans for independent asset assurance regimes for Network Rail, assessing the impact of devolution of control to routes and developing plans to identify the correct levels of resource and competence required to deliver them. .



Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications



Essential

· Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject

· Experience of process delivery management

· Experience of system risk management in a railway context

· Highly developed ability to actively present information using a range of verbal and written methodologies

· Highly developed negotiating and influencing skills

· Highly developed analytical skills and a keen attention to detail

· Line management experience

· Member of a relevant professional institution
