Job Description

Engineering Manager (Civil Engineering) Up to £90k + 25% Bonus and Benefits - Essex

We have an urgent requirement for a experienced Civil Engineering Manager to work on a £multi Billion infrastructure development.
The key objectives of this role will be to assist the Civil Engineering Director in ensuring all of the infrastructure works are delivered on time, to budget and to the technical requirements required as well as managing the Engineering Team in terms of all design and contract coordination.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally be a degree qualified chartered civil engineer, with the following attributes:

• A broad range of experience in multi-disciplinary work such as highways, roads, services, buildings and railways.
• The ability to coordinate varying works and disciplines.
• Contract management experience.
• A good grasp of contract law and the ability to assess the quality of contract packages and the validity of contract claims.
• Team player but able to pressure both the consultant and contractor to provide work and solutions advantageous to LG.
• To be pro-active in outlook.
The Successful candidate will currently be in a engineering management, technical management position overseeing a large multi disciplined civil engineering project.

Role Profile
To assist in the coordination of the Engineering Team in terms of all design and contract coordination.
To provide appropriate guidance, background and support for the Engineering Team to meet the Project needs.
• To ensure work packages are coordinated and completed on time or, should delays occur, all reasonable actions are taken to minimise the effect of such delays.
• To ensure work packages are completed on budget and should overruns be foreseen, all reasonable actions are taken to minimise the effect of cost overruns.
• Responsibilities cover highways and roads, services, container terminal buildings and railways.
To interact and challenge the discipline managers overseeing particular elements of the work
