We are looking for Electrical Systems Compatibility Engineer for our Rolling Stocks UK, facility based in Derby Your Role You will be working as part of a team supporting the engineering development process to deliver products that are safe by design/ build and are approved for service entry. You will have specific focus on the safety of rolling stock with respect to their interface with and compatibility with infrastructure signalling, communications and power supply systems (Electrical System Compatibility - ESC). Your Challenges Development of signalling compatibility vehicle safety requirements based upon • Contractual and tender documentation. • The Companys legal obligations • The Companys Product Safety Policies and Procedures • Standards • ESC knowledge • Infrastructure information Development of signalling compatibility vehicle safety requirements based upon • Contractual and tender documentation. • The Companys legal obligations • The Companys Product Safety Policies and Procedures • Standards • ESC knowledge • Infrastructure information · Cascading of ESC requirements and verification activities to sub-systems within the train · Liaison with system engineers and suppliers to determine and develop sub-system concepts for complying with the sub-system ESC requirements · Review of ESC requirements verification evidence and data to enable the production of vehicle requirement compliance evidence · Conducting train testing verification activities to support the justification of compliance to ESC requirements · Production and approval of high level documentation necessary to demonstrate new rolling stocks conforms to ESC requirements such that this rolling stock can be introduced into service in a timely manner. Decision Making: · Interpret requirements - Legal - Customers - Contracts · Guiding concept & design during bid and design phases · Confirm that all requirements are met through out the delivery process · Work with customers / stakeholders to sign off that sufficient requirement have been met · Influence emerging requirements The impact of an error is: · Loss of new work arising from failure to win a tender. · Large delays in the acceptance and delivery of the product. · Extensive and costly modifications to built products. Product Liability Claims on Bombardier either under Civil or Criminal Law. Qualifications Ideally you will be qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering or science discipline You will have an understanding of ESC issues in the railway environment You will also have an appreciation of rolling stock and ESC standards
