We are looking for up to 2 Duty Shift Managers to support delivery of the Stansted Express project, based at Ilford Seven Kings depot. This position will be based at Ilford Seven Kings, however there will be a requirement to work from other Electrostar depots during the first few months to learn the new processes. All staff managed will be based at Ilford Seven Kings.

Your Role

The Duty Shift Managers (DSM) are responsible for (a) ensuring that the Class 379 Electrostar Units are maintained in compliance with the maintenance plan and manual and in a safe and efficient manner and (b) providing the operator with a world class technical and planning support during passenger service operations. To achieve this, the Duty Shift Managers will be leading a small team of service technicians with the tasks of carrying out the planned/unplanned maintenance and component exchange programs, and providing technical and planning support to the operator. They will also provide Service Technician cover at Liverpool St and Stansted Airport Stations. The position will be based on a three shift system to support a 24hours, 7 days a week fleet management operations. This position is based at the Maintenance depot facility.

Your Challenges
•Leading and Managing the team of Service Technicians to safely carry out planned and unplanned maintenance activities on the Class 379 Units including Train Preparation in a safe environment. Planning the work each day including trains returning to depot for work to be carried out.
•Managing the team of Service Technicians providing the Operator technical and planning support during passenger service operations
•Ensuring that all Work Orders are complete and maintained in a timely manner within the Bombardier maintenance management system (Maximo)
•Ensuring that all activities undertaken by the Service Technicians are compliant to the relevant depot and organisational Safety and Quality standards, depot local working procedures, maintenance plan (VMS) and VMIs & VMPs
•Ensuring that all Class 379 Units are handed-over to the Operator are Fit For Service in compliance with the relevant Standards and the Operators Safety Manual.
•Carrying out technical investigations of reported defects (with the support of the Service Engineers).


Qualifications

Your Experience and Qualifications

•Traction and Rolling Stock related experience in a ‘hand on capacity’ is desirable.
•Will be qualified through an apprenticeship program to NVQ level 3 or above or equivalent.
•Strong Safety Culture mindset with experience and proven track record
•Experience in electrical and some mechanical engineering,
•Comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical principles,
•Computer literate.
•Good understanding of English language (written and verbal),
•Full driving license,
•Extensive and comprehensive training program will be given.
Health and Safety competencies required:

•Understanding of the Health and Safety At Work Act, stores procedures and material handling requirements
•Understanding of Quality Management System requirements,
•Pass medical,
•Trained on: Manual Handling, COSHH, Personal Track Safety (can be provided if not trained).
