Job Description

My client is a national contractor who deliver project managed solutions through Rail, Energy and Engineering business streams.

Due to continued growth they require an experienced Contracts Manager to work on Rail Projects in the Cardiff area.

Role
The purpose of this role is to:
Ensure successful project delivery and maximisation of margins through the delivery of contracts in a safe manner, on time, within budget and to the agreed levels of quality.
Proactively develop relationships with clients and their representatives in order to identify, develop and maximise business opportunities for the Rail South Business Unit.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
The key tasks of this role include:
Demonstrating a consistently high standard of Health and Safety leadership and behaviour.
Fulfilling the Contract Managers responsibilities as laid down in the Health and Safety Responsibility Statement HSRS 004.
Delivery of multiple contracts within programme and budget.
The development of positive relationships with all parties associated with the contract.
Liaising with clients representatives to ensure client requirements are clearly understood, resourced and implemented on time and to budget.
Ensuring that Project Delivery Teams are fully apprised of the contract parameters and have the capability and resources necessary to achieve contract objectives.
Ensuring that contracts are executed in accordance with the requirements of all applicable legislation
The Terms and Conditions of the contract
The Contract Health and Safety Plan
The Contract Quality/Environmental Plan
The Policies and Procedures contained within the Company Business Management System
The continuous monitoring of contract progress to ensure that contract objectives are being met.
* Ensuring, in conjunction with Project Delivery Teams, that all potential contract variations are identified for potential commercial issues and client notification in order to identify any corrective or other actions that may be required.
* Managing any breaches of discipline or lowering of performance which could adversely affect the profitability of an assigned contract or the Companys reputation.
* The provision of formal reports on contract progress to the Contracts Director.
* Ensuring that all relevant issues, which cannot be resolved at contract level, are passed for the attention of the Contracts Director.
* Controlling the *close-out* of contracts to ensure that all activities required to be completed are completed in accordance with the Contract and to the clients satisfaction
* Full participation in all aspects of enquiry and project processes including pre-qualification, estimating, design, contract negotiation, contract delivery and close out.
* Contributing to the ongoing development of the core competences of the Rail South Business Unit in order to increase the scope of business opportunity
* Proactive promotion of the Company and its capabilities to clients, including the development of an appropriate contact network.
* The identification of business development opportunities and ensuring that any such opportunities are communicated and proactively progressed in conjunction with the appropriate Business Development Executive/Director.
The promotion of a continuous improvement culture and the use of best practice.

Person Specification
Candidates for this role must have experience of successfully leading project delivery teams and should meet the following criteria:
Qualified to degree level and preferably a member of the ICE
Must possess extensive experience of successfully delivering civil engineering projects ranging from £250K - £5m.
Rail experience would be a distinct advantage.
Previous experience in the successful delivery of building, structures, enhancements and multidiscipline projects is essential
Experience of Design and Construct activities is essential.
IT Literate, particularly Microsoft Office Applications.

Must be able to demonstrate a customer focussed approach and experience of customer facing business development activities.
The successful candidate will be able to clearly demonstrate the ability to contribute to the expansion of the core competence of the Rail South Business Unit

Educational/Professional
Qualifications:
BSc and preferably MICE or equivalent compensating experience

CSCS Requirements: Contracts Manager

H&S Requirements:
Five Day Site Managers Safety Training Scheme or acceptable
alternative (e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate).

Package is flexible and will depend on relevant experience
