Job Description

Our client is looking for a Construction & Commissioning Engineer, Predominately London based but would be required to travel to other locations as & when required. It is a temporary placement from September until at least Christmas. They are looking to pay £500 per day for the right person.

This position reports to the Power Construction Group Manager and normally reside at site as the first line of control of the commissioning work. The role is to ensure that the commissioning is to specification, and agreed test plans, change controls administered, progress is monitored, quality is assured and work is carried out safely in accordance with applicable legislation, rules and standards.

Duties include:-

Accepting work as complete and ready for test from the Construction staff.
Liase with all third parties for the execution of Commissioning and testing across interfaces.
Ensure that all contractors commissioning staff are fully briefed and competent to carry out their duties.
Maintain complete set of Commissioning documents for the site.
Record any design or As Built Changes as a direct consequence of Commissioning Tests.
Undertake testing to ensure installation is in accordance with the design.
Undertake quality checks and certify results.
Undertake Commissioning/Testing activities at factory or site as required.
Monitor Commissioning progress against agreed programme.
Maintain daily site diary of resources, plant, labour, weather and activities with respect to Commissioning. .
Maintain register of factory and site queries received from sub contractor with record of answers or referral for action.
Report progress weekly and attend any progress meetings if required.
Ensure Commissioning is carried out in accordance with the agreed Test Plans, Method Statements, Network Rail HV Permitry and appropriate standards.
Implement changes to Protection relay settings and secondary injection testing as required.
Undertake HV Level A/B duties as required.
Undertake Section Proving activities as required.
Maintain Inspection and Test Plans and associated checksheets and ensure satisfactory completion by contractors and Carillion staff.
Report on Testing activities and maintain Test fault register for forwarding to the Construction Manager.
Advise line manager of any emergency or action required outside limit of authority.
Ensure statutory safety notices are displayed in accordance with legislation.
Report accidents/incidents in accordance with company procedure.
