Job Description

Our client a major rail and infrastructure contractor is looking for a Commercial Manager to join their successful Rail Division in London.

Purpose of the Role
To manage all commercial aspects of allocated multidisciplinary rail projects from conception through to final account, delivering maximum financial return

Key Accountabilities
Lead commercial activities and direct project team to maximise revenue and margin
Manage and control project cost againstbudgets
Identify and manage opportunities and risks to ensure that contractual obligations are met
Manage claims and variations to safeguard budget and programme integrity

Key Tasks
Advise project team on all contractual matters and relevant commercial implications
Report progress and performance against project plans and end life forecast
Establish and maintain project management cost controls including early warning systems
Lead negotiations in the procurement of resources, plant and materials to achieve best value at all times
Manage cash flow and raise applications for payments and invoices
Establish ways of working with customers to enhance collaborative working
Negotiate and agree contractual disputes and final accounts

Candidate Profile
Experience
Recognised quantity surveying qualification or relevant experience
Thorough knowledge of contract procedures and administration including NEC, ICE, MF/1 and JCT
Comprehensive understanding of the CVR reporting methodology
Adept in negotiation with strong working knowledge of standard forms of contract
Experience of commercial management on multidisciplinary rail projects of £25 million plus in value
Proven experience of team leadership and proactive management
Experience of working for a contractor in a client facing environment
Understanding of all rail disciplines and interface management
