Job Summary:
Oversees all railroad police related activities in an assigned area. Leads a team of Police Supervisory Special Agents, K9 Technical Special Agents, and Special Agents who are generally responsible for preventing crime and protecting the interests of CSX Transportation (CSXT), its employees, customers, and the public while on, or about CSXT property. In addition, ensures that these agents conduct themselves with a priority focus on safety, customer service, training and professional development, operational efficiency, crime prevention, and related actions designed to protect shipments in the case, custody, and control of CSXT. Serves as the CSXT senior law enforcement officer in his or her area of responsibility and is required to ensure that the proper coordination of criminal investigations, crime detection and prevention measures, and counter-terrorism activities are made with Federal, State, Tribal, and local law enforcement, homeland security, and emergency management agencies. Also responsible for the proper training, testing, execution, and coordination of the security countermeasures found in the CSXT Security Plan. Supports the general mission of the police department, prevents crime, and protects the interests of CSXT.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:
•Monitor investigations of crime on, or against, the railroad. Review and approve reports submitted in furtherance of those investigations.
•Set priorities and goals for Supervisory Special Agents, K9 Technical Special Agents, and Special Agents and establish a professional work environment that enables the successful accomplishment of the mission.
•Maintains routine and regular contact with Federal, State, Tribal and local law enforcement, Homeland Security, and emergency management agencies to establish and maintain positive working relationships and partnerships.
•Monitors law enforcement activities and intelligence sources to identify potential threats to the transportation sector, generally, and to CSXT, specifically. Implements appropriate security countermeasures as necessary.
•Routinely conducts liaison visits with other CSXT operating organizations to reinforce awareness of the CSX Transportation Security Plan; and, to ensure internal and external customer expectations are being met.
•Identifies resource and logistics requirements, manages and protects CSXT company assets, and ensures the availability of such resources to support the mission.
•Ensures the proper completion of administrative reports to support the measure and metrics of departmental activities; presents analytical and graphical displays of metrics and measures that accurately depicts progress on goals, problems encountered, incidents reported, or trends identified.
•Identifies training opportunities, and makes available training programs, for the professional development of Supervisory Special Agents, Technical Special Agents and Special Agents.
•Recruits a diverse group of potential applicants who aspire to become CSXT Police Special Agents.
•Stays abreast of changes in laws or regulations that impact the means and methods employed by Special Agents in the conduct of criminal investigations and law enforcement activities.
•Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelors degree required
•More than 10 years of Law Enforcement experience required including experience supervising police personnel
•Certifications/Licenses: required to be a certified or commissioned law enforcement officer
Equivalent Minimum Qualifications:
•Associates degree required
•More than 12 years of Law Enforcement experience required including experience supervising police personnel
•Certifications/Licenses: required to be a certified or commissioned law enforcement officer
Preferred Qualifications:
•Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice
•More than 10 years of Law Enforcement experience including experience supervising police personnel and more than 3 years of experience policing within the Railroad industry
•Criminal investigation training/experience or other in-depth specialized police/law enforcement training or coursework resulting in continuing education credits or instructor certification
•Certifications/Licenses: a certified or commissioned law enforcement officer
Knowledge and Skills:
•Firearm proficiency
•Microsoft Office skills
•Ability to retain security information in confidence

Job Requirements:
•Wear protective equipment such as welding shields, hard hat, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, work boots, safety vest, face shield and safety glasses.
•Work hours may vary in length and schedule. Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek and various shift work.
•10 - 20% travel required outside of regularly assigned territory.
•20 - 50% travel required inside of regularly assigned territory.
•Work hours may include on call 7 days a week, 24 hours per day, with extended periods of time away from home.
•Need to be available to report to work with two-hour advance notice.
•The applicant selected for this position may be required to successfully complete a background check and physical including a drug test. Passing results must be received prior to start date in new position.

•Work inside an office environment.
•Work outside in all weather conditions.
