Job Description

Role Title: Supervisor – Civils
Brief overview of the role and
project: To plan, resource and supervise a team(s) of operatives to successfully complete a diverse range of projects within the working railway environment, ensuring defect free work is delivered in a safe & timely manner to meet the required standards and specifications
Accountabilities
• Day to day supervision of a team(s) of operatives ensuring work is completed safely to a high standard and within agreed timescales
• Able to accurately interpret construction drawings, schedules & specifications and use these in the implementation, progression and monitoring of construction/ installation works.
• Support the Management team in identifying and recruiting the appropriate skilled resources.
• Responsible for planning, executing and completing the allocated work and ensuring recording and reporting procedures for the range of work undertaken are adhered to.
• Responsible for producing progress & productivity reports as required by the Management team.
• Ensure training and qualifications (own and team members) are kept up to date and identify additional training needs if appropriate
• Provide hands on construction support when needed
• Participate in progress and review meetings
• Carry out staff briefings as required and ensure that SQE procedures & processes are complied with.
• Manage and liaise with sub contractors, suppliers and specialists as required
• Work with the Management teams implement new processes and systems to improve performance
• Ensuring that safe working practices are promoted & adhered to at all times.

Knowledge & key skills
Essential:
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Previous experience in a supervisory role
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Must be self-motivated, reliable, approachable, observant, safety conscious and with high levels of attention to detail
• Be customer focused and demonstrate commitment to delivery & quality
• Railway experience – knowledge of Network Rail Rule Book and Standards
• Trained in IOSH/PTS/IWA/COSS
• Good IT skills with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and office programs.
• Experience working in rail industry
• Full British Driving License
• Proven people management skills•
Desirable

• Aware of railway market and key players
• Ability to communicate with the Client
