Civil Infrastructure, Track Engineer (Iron Ore Heavy Haul), London



The leading EPCM organisation, currently require a Track Engineer to work on a new greenfield rail project (mining heavy haul) based in London.



SUMMARY:

* The Track Engineer is responsible for coordinating and administering all elements of the track related engineering aspects of the Iron Ore project.
* The project involves six distinct phases and is based on a number of options one of which will progressed through to conceptual design. During the phases the Track Engineer will be required to plan & manage the track engineering and interface elements to enable the required outputs from the designated rail & civil team to be achieved.
* The Track Engineer will support communications and presentations to the customers. In coordination with the nominated project engineering manager the track engineer will; support the development of agreed options and have input to budgets and schedules, manage performance, report progress and initiate actions to assure program/project objectives and schedules are met and work is performed within budget and schedule as required
* In addition the Track Engineer resolves issues and coordinates with the customer to ensure that the technical elements of the project meet the requirements of the prime contract in a satisfactory manner.



ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

* In terms of the rail elements of the work and related interfaces, the track engineer ensures the optioneering process scope, design basis and objectives are defined, best practices/lessons learned reviewed, detailed work plans, schedules, budgets and procedures are established. This includes the execution plan; contract management plan; plan for addressing critical cross-functional work processes and systems etc.
* In coordination with other responsible engineers and managers, has input to environmental, safety & health program for both the office and field work environments including project team and subcontractor activities. Also that any design prepared is in accordance with ES&H laws and regulations applicable along with the projects (in-country) requirements.
* Obtains concurrence by the members of the project team and the Customer.
* Promotes the use of constructability reviews during project execution planning.
* Has engineering input to the projects Division of Responsibility (DOR) between and other entities working on the project including integrated work processes.
* In coordination with project engineers supports the change management control system. Ensures that all Customer communications on the prime contract are documented.



JOB KNOWLEDGE:

* Essential - Knowledge of railway operations in particular heavy haul and raw material transportation.
* Essential - Knowledge of railway infrastructure in particular the track and civil elements from initial planning, onto feasibility design through to construction into use and hand over to the operator. This includes training & maintenance.
* Required - Knowledge of rail industry, technology and, including knowledge of customs, culture and business practices of Region/Country where project is located.
* Feasibility studies and optioneering along with process management and related tools.
* Engineering degree or equivalent.
* Managed railway civil and track related engineering activities on a large complex project/program or on multiple lesser size projects.
* Must be familiar with international engineering and railway codes and standards.
* Professional Qualification/Membership
* Member of recognized engineering institution
