Job Description
Department & how it relates to the role Network Rail is planning to transfer certain activities of our business to a new National Centre which will open in Milton Keynes during 2012. You should be aware that this position will be included in this move. About the role (External) The main purpose of this role is to develop and manage Engineering’s business information reporting processes to measure and support the improvement of Engineering business performance. Act as system owner for the Engineering time recoding system. Key Accountabilities · Establish and develop robust processes for the management and reporting of Engineering business information, including monthly business reviews. Derive innovative ways of improving the efficiency of information extraction, analysis and delivery. · Provide a comprehensive, high quality business management information analysis and reporting service to the Director, Engineering and their senior team. · Analyse business performance information to identify opportunities for improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of Engineering activities. Specify projects and activities to deliver these improvements and lead projects as directed. · Develop, implement and maintain processes for the effective the use of the Engineering time recording system. · Act as system expert on the Engineering time recording system. Continuously monitor system usage and manage developments and improvements to the system. Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications Essential · Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject · Sound understanding of the principles of project and resource management · Ability to effectively present information using a range of verbal and written methodologies · Highly developed analytical skills and a keen attention to detail · Experience of process development and process improvement Essential Leadership Capabilities · Communicating Clearly – Role Model · Tracking Performance – Role Model · Putting the Customer First – Good · Searching for Information – Good Desirable · Advanced user of Oracle Time and Labour and familiar with associated business systems * Good cross-discipline understanding of railway engineering
