Job Description

Tasks

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of on board services and crew base within the (operating) division, and for the management oversight of passenger service activities. Support and maximize the provision of passenger services and achieve financial and service delivery goals. Develop, manage, monitor, and enhance processes related to passenger interaction and entraining/detraining to ensure safe and satisfied passengers and employees.
Ensure managers are in compliance and enforce company policies and procedures. Ensure managers are hiring, training, measuring and improving performance, counseling and appropriately disciplining. Develop and ensure implementation of service recovery to minimize passenger inconvenience. Because decisions made at this level significantly impact the entire organization and its customers, the Superintendent is expected to model the highest levels of behavior and integrity at all times.

EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Transportation or related fields.
Requirements
WORK EXPERIENCE: Management experience in passenger handling and service delivery.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Experience leading and managing others with different levels of expertise. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage departmental operating budget. Demonstrated ability to deliver comprehensive station and occupation safety program with proven results. Must possess working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local regulations and applicable Amtrak labor agreements.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS. Demonstrated experience applying effective communicative skills within and outside of the organization, both written and verbal.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Position supervises 428 employees.
