Job Description
Department & how it relates to the role The post supports the Senior Structures Managment Engineer in the safe mangement of Network Rails bridges, viaducts, tunnels, retaining walls and culverts. About the role (External) Duties to be undertaken within the role include the following:- * Evaluate reports, intervention proposals, support the specification of maintenance work and maintain comprehensive asset records. * Monitor inspections and examinations of structures for correct completion and support the implementation of control measures where proposed examinations or interventions are deferred. * Support the development of maintenance schemes for handover to the delivery organisation and monitor the implementation of schemes to verify that requirements are sufficient, correctly interpreted and that any changes are agreed. * Support engineering analysis and risk assessment of maintenance schemes during early development phases and assist with the development of business cases for maintenance schemes. * Monitor the technical development of projects, ascertaining that renewal requirements are sufficient, correctly interpreted and any changes are agreed. Assist with the approval in principle of designs and support acceptance of detailed design certification. * Monitor trends in asset condition, maintenance work carried out and failure precursors and assist with the specification of appropriate action. * Assist with the review of proposals from other disciplines or external organisations that impact on routine maintenance and renewals to identify potential synergies or conflicts. * Provide engineering support and manage investigations of incidents. Essential · HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in civil or structures engineering · Significant experience in civil or structures engineering Desirable · Incorporated Engineer · Knowledge of structures engineering policies and standards · An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
