Job Description
Department & how it relates to the role The Signalling Design Group is part of Network Rail’s Investment Projects, Signalling & Electrification function. The Group is involved with Signalling Scheme Development and detailed signal engineering designs for both major resignalling schemes and minor renewals and enhancements. This post has been created to support the development and delivery works for the Thameslink programme and in particular the resignalling of London Bridge. About the role (External) The successful candidate will manage all engineering and design development activities resulting in schemes that are affordable and meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. You will be expected to manage the development of suitable engineering options for a proposal giving full consideration to safety, reliability and maintainability. You will need to use risk ID and evaluation methods (HAZOP, QRA, LRM and GK/RT/14200 suite) to evaluate and compare options. A key part of this role will be to manage the preparation of the full engineering data package requirement for commencement of the detailed design. You must also carry out independent checking of signalling design documentation. You’ll have an ability to support the construction design management (CDM) planning supervisor in all associated duties and carry out cross-discipline engineering checks of all relevant aspects of the proposal.
